[There is a kitten of about 5 months old in the void. She has seen the bird, and she is staring wide-eyed in that way cats do when they're trying to figure out the best way to pounce on something.
Tuuri does not notice that behavior yet. She just sees Hunter and the bird at the moment.]

[The real answer is because we are all monsters. He sounds a little concerned about it, anyway, but perks a little when he then gestures at the bird... who is now staring at the kitten, his one eye narrowed.]
This is Flapjack. He's my palisman, and— [Flapjack chirps, cutting him off, and he blinks in surprise.] Huh? Oh... He says hi. And... that the cat is looking at him weird? Are they yours?
[Technically both Tuuri and Kitty died before making it out of the Silent World in the 'you need a fukken death to be in this game' AU, but! Let's put that aside for now!]
Definitely. She'll do better among humans anyway. The Silent World is very dangerous, even for animals. At least with people we can keep her safe and make sure she grows.
...the Known World is, basically, all the safe and cleansed areas, where people can live in relative safety. Outside of those places, everything else is the Silent World.
